Alice C. Healy

Alice Healy

My love for watercolor began when I took a Chinese brush painting class while living in Singapore.  It was the beginning of a life long journey of exploration and growth.

As a perpetual student, I have experimented with many mediums,

and always return to watercolor.  Since retiring from Western Washington University as the Communication Sciences and Disorders Academic Department Manager, I finally have time to devote myself full-time to painting.

I get my inspiration from the beauty of the Northwest – – the wildlife, Puget Sound, the Olympic Peninsular, and my own Sudden Valley (where I live in Bellingham).  I tend to work in phases focusing on Northwest scenes, then perhaps, squirrels, roosters, trees, flowers, and landscapes.  Last year I worked on barns that I photographed in the Skagit Valley as well as some from upstate New York.  This year I am also exploring animal painting techniques.  I have had several pet commissions, and am excited to do more.

In addition to the Whatcom Art Market, my recent work can be seen on the Valley Arts Group website at:  https://valleyartsgroup.org,  AliceHealyWatercolor on Facebook, on Instagram at achealy26, on https://alicehealywatercolor.com, and https://alice-healy.pixels.com
